Energy bill suddenly doubled?!

Problem:

A customer’s monthly energy bill suddenly doubled. The JDK technician inspected this older A/C system and discovered that the heat strip had broken and metal wires had fused together. An element link had broken and shorted to the metal, causing the heat strip to stay on.

Broken Heat Strip

Solution:

Replace the heat strip and verify that the new unit was working properly.

Installing New Heat Strip

Result:

The customer’s electrical bill dropped significantly on the next month’s bill.

Time Required:

One hour, including re-wiring , resetting customer’s thermostat and checking the overall A/C system.
